Furneaux Freight are proud to announce the decision to commission a new build to replace the existing Matthew Flinders III. Furneaux Freight have elected, unlike the State Government, a local boat building firm to construct the new purpose built vessel called the “Matthew Flinders IV”.

The new purpose-built vessel will incorporate state of the art technology to deliver an improved and enhanced service to the Furneaux Group. Incorporating increased carrying capabilities and dedicated passenger facilities, the Matthew Flinders IV aims to revolusionise the existing service whilst providing security for existing and future investment in the Islands local economies.

Furneaux Freight are dedicating to continuing to provide a cost efficient and dependable service to the Bass Strait Islands.

Price Increase

Due to the increasing costs of “Port Fees” and “Supervision” charges at the Lady Barron Port along with the CPI increase, Furneaux Freight effective from the 1st of January 2018 will have a 2.5% increase in all freight rates.
